Open Task Manager to find out which process is grabbing cpu resource. Try disabling that process and observe cpu utilization. If it goes down to %26lt;3% level, you got the culprit. Disable it permanently by running msconfig.

If this does not work, your PC may have a virus. Scan in SAFE mode.

If you can you should setup an account on the PC for gaming only. For gaming only you should not use any anti-virus, spyware program anything that would eat up the cycles of the CPU and RAM. Try reducing the protection a bit and use programs that don't hog the CPU to 100% Max otherwise just can't play anything on that system.

Norton is the worst program to use..
Here are some ways to cut down down on CPU access

Disable the amount of services running in the background-- You can do this by altering your computer configuration. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.

2. Click Run

3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
