If so, how? I am running XP on both w/ a McCaffee security center.
Can I gain access to a computer using only the IP address if I have permission from the other computer?avast
To legally gain access you must have a network setup and have yourself as the adminstrator. If you're attempting to unlawfully break in and don't that much about IP addresses right now, I think McAfee will be able to stop you.

you will have to set up a vpn connection. 1 computer will be a server the next the host. you will have to set up the server for incoming connections, set up a user id and start the remote networking services. microsoft.com has tons of info about this. just search their knowledge base about vpn connections. not to mention you have to open the ports on your router. have fun this can be a pain the *** if you are learning.
i think so.. go to start%26gt; programs%26gt; accesories%26gt; communications%26gt; remote desktop connection. (click on "options" to see the rest of the options).
You can use NetMeeting, just execute:
Start, Run, CONF.EXE
A configuration wizard will appear.
You will run this on both computers.
You tell NetMeeting to share the Desktop, so when you connect you can use the Host computer.
You can configure Netmeeting to accept communications automatically.
Hope this helps.
you can use either Netmeeting or GoToMyPC. you can confirugre your computer to share desktop with another person's.
